Does Bleach Kill mold?

This is one of the most widely publicized myths I hear constantly. Bleach does sanitize non-pourous surfaces of bacteria but is not the correct product to kill mold. The active ingredient in Bleach is Sodium Hypochlorite. This will whiten many surfaces of discoloration, but it leaves behind the microflora that will enable the mold to return it the area becomes moist again. Bleach whitens the surface, but does not kill the invisible roots and spores. In short, Bleach is NOT the product to use.
