Douglas R. Whitehead II here of ‘Arrayofsolutions.com’ sharing my knowledge of mold and what it means to your health and home.

Let me begin with the premise;  Mold is Everywhere!.  Where there is an organic material, there is (unless treated, encapsulated or placed in a ‘mold-safe’ environment’) mold.  What we focus on here at ‘Arrayofsolutions.com’ is how much mold is located in areas affecting your health.  Once identified, there are many, many ways to reduce, control and remediate mold spores.  As I spoke of in my latest articles, the common denominator we address is moisture.  If there is zero moisture, there is still mold, but zero moisture cuts off the food source for it to proliferate.  However, if not properly addressed, these spores can lay dormant for anywhere to one hundred to two thousand years.  This depends on what information source you are crediting.  Any scientific opinion differs greatly depending on who you ask.  Back to the strongest contributing factor; moisture.  Moisture and relative humidity have a direct specific correlation.  The greater the presence of moisture,  the higher the level of humidity.   Mold loves shredded wood.  What is shredded wood?  Paper, cardboard, sheetrock has a paper on it, hence, often a good host for fungi and mold. Wood is also a great host of wood.  It meets all the necessary requirements;  Organic, porous, the ability to rot, and in almost all homes built in the history of construction.  The importance of mold in today’s information age boils down to money.

The presence of mold in your home can greatly reduce the value of your home or the desirability of the purchaser.  In my day to day dealing here at ‘Array of Solutions,’ I have seen an increasing value placed on the amount of mold present in the living space. Also, I have also witnessed a direct correlation between the presence of mold in the home and the quality of health of those living in it.  The perfect mold test for me when someone finds the home of their dreams is an air quality test with counts below two thousand.  Local industry standards will raise a red flag if the counts are above one thousand, but I have yet to see the rationale here.  Nobody wants to buy a moldy home and nobody can sell a moldy home for the full value.  Call ‘Arrayofsolutions.com’ today for a free discussion about your concerns, questions and or health concerns.
